Submitting your FeedBurner feed to Google Webmaster Tools is another method to let Google know when you have fresh content. When new posts appear on the blog, Google will crawl both your website and your RSS feed. Submitting a Feedburner feed to Google Webmaster Tools requires the editing of the feed URL. If the original Feedburner feed is submitted, Google Webmaster Tools will generate error reports. This happens because Feedburner creates new permalinks or blog URL addresses within the feed when it is tracking the website stats. If Google Webmaster Tools tries to crawl these new links, it won't be able to pull up information. To submit a Feedburner feed from a WordPress or Blogger blog, the first step is editing the feed link.
Login to the dashboard of your account. Create a custom feed using Feed Wrangler. If you don't have it, install it. Go to the "Plugins" menu in your left panel. Click on "Add New."
Type in Feed Wrangler in the search box that comes up. Feed Wrangler will show up as the first item on the result page. Click on "Install Now." Go to the "Plugins" menu, and find Feed Wrangler. Activate it. Go to "Settings" and click on "Feed Wrangler". Under the "Feed Slug" space, type in "FeedBurner." A menu will appear below, titled "Current Feeds."
Right click on "FeedBurner" hyperlink, and left click on "Copy the Website Address." You will be submitting this to Google Webmaster Tools.
Login to your Google Webmaster account. At the dashboard, click on "Add Another Website" (see Resources).
Paste in your feed URL. Click "Continue." The next menu will ask you to verify that you own the site. In the drop-down menu, you can select your Internet hosting company if it's listed. If it isn't, click on "Other." A verification string will appear. Highlight and "Copy" it. It appears in this format,
Go back to your blog's Dashboard. Click on "Appearance," and "Editor." You will be pulling up your blog's HTML source code. Find the "Header," which is shown as:
Paste in the Google verification under.
Go back to the Google Webmaster Tools. Click on "Confirm."
Login to your FeedBurner account. At the main menu, find your blog. Click on it, and click on "Edit Feed Details." Under original feed, highlight the feed URL and "Copy" it.
Open a text editor or word processing program. Paste in the feed URL. You will be adding "?redirect=false" to the end of the URL. This is how it will appear:
After Adjustment: "http://yourblog.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default?redirect=false"
This adjustment will allow Google Webmaster Tools to add the feed and track it, without generating sitemap errors. Highlight the adjusted feed URL and "Copy" it.
Login to your Google Webmasters account. Click on "Add Another Website." Paste in the URL. Click on "Continue."
Read the verification message. Since your Google Webmasters account shares the same email with your Blogger account, you won't have to do any further verifications.
